About the Architectural Engineering Design Course

Do you want to make a significant contribution to a sustainable future?

The Architectural Engineering Design course is about sustainable design at the interface of engineering and architecture and will equip you with the skills to do so.

The design and construction of buildings involves the integration of architecture and engineering. The main engineering disciplines are Building Services e.g. heating, cooling, lighting, and Structural Engineering. Modern designs look to produce integrated solutions, particularly in regard to the energy used over their whole life. Designing buildings in such a way is an essential key to the development of the built environment in a sustainable manner.

Recognising the urgent need for engineers able to fully contribute to such an approach Architectural Engineering Design is a new course combining subjects from all of the engineering disciplines associated with buildings and their infrastructure as well as providing an understanding of architectural thinking and practice. Teaching resources are drawn from the Faculty of Engineering, the School of Architecture and industry for teaching, project work and vacation placements.

As a Master's graduate, you will develop a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of the core disciplines, the ability to apply your theoretical knowledge and the communication skills necessary to make a substantial contribution to innovative and creative sustainable designs.

Come and join us in helping to create a better future.
