Financial Support

There are a number of possible sources of financial assistance for undergraduates on the course.

Industry Sponsorship

The Roger Preston & Partners Bursary Scheme

Roger Preston & Partners, one of the leading national and international consultants in the built environment have generously established a bursary scheme for the course. It will provide five first year bursaries of £2000 each to chosen students. Selection will be based on A level or equivalent scores plus an interview. Details of their work can be found at rpreston.com.

University Bursaries and Scholarships

UK Students

The University provides bursaries for UK students and as a participant in an Engineering course you may qualify for one. Details of the conditions of award and a calculator giving guidance as to their amount are available at sheffield.ac.uk/bursaries.

Overseas Students

All international undergraduate students entering the Faculty of Engineering are provided with Engineering International Scholarships worth £2000 per year. Details and conditions of eligibility are available at sheffield.ac.uk/scholarships/ugengineering.html.

Vacation Placements

We consider vacation placements an essential part of the course and are currently finalising the establishment of placement schemes with a number of major consultants. We envisage that many consultants will look to use a vacation placement at the end of the first year as a means of selecting those they may sponsor for the remainder of the course.
